We are very flexible in regards to the process followed -- we will attempt to work in whatever way the advisor requires. However, the following is a typical process:
  • Advisor engages Holland Advisory Services to work on plan, and requests estimate of time to complete plan.
  • Advisor completes fact-finder in consultation with client, and forwards fact-finder to Holland Advisory Services. Alternately, Advisor can send original source material to Holland Advisory Services for data input. Information can be sent through email, fax, or courier.
  • Holland Advisory Services enters the data into financial planning software, creates a Data Verification Report and sends it to the Advisor.
  • Advisor confirms data or replies with changes.
  • Holland Advisory Services creates a Preliminary Report, and sends it to the Advisor along with notes and observations of findings.
  • Advisor replies with changes and recommendations.
  • Holland Advisory Services and advisor work on recommendations and strategies to implement.
  • Holland Advisory Services enters modifications, and generates a Final Report. This report can be sent in Word format, so the Advisor can add or modify any wording, to allow for additional personalization of the plan.

Engagement

The contract and arrangement for payment can be made with the advisor, or with the client directly, as the advisor wishes. Holland Advisory Services recognizes the primary importance of the advisor/client relationship, and can work in the background, or meet with the client, depending on the preference of the advisor.  Please check out our sample advisor contract.

Fact Finding

Holland Advisory Services can provide a standard fact finder for use with a client, or the advisor can use their usual fact finder, perhaps with a supplemental fact finder supplied by Holland Advisory Services.
Alternately, the advisor can send the client’s original source material (tax returns, investment statements, etc) to Holland Advisory Services for data input, either without using a fact finder, or rather than filling out all areas of the fact finder.

Data Verification

After the initial data entry, there will most likely be questions about some of the information. Holland Advisory Services can provide a written report of data, with questions listed, for the advisor to verify with the client.

Preliminary Report

The preliminary report would consist of a short report, illustrating areas such as the net worth, cash flow, taxes, asset allocation, insurance needs, and estate analysis. This report can be modified extensively, depending on the preference of the advisor.

The advisor may like to present this report to the client at this point.

Analysis and Strategies

In this process, Holland Advisory Services can make recommendations for various strategies to be implemented, and analyze, project, and report on these strategies. The advisor may wish to make all the recommendations themselves, or may wish to determine jointly with Holland Advisory Services the recommendations to make. Holland Advisory Services would not make any recommendations for any particular products, but can illustrate a particular product based on information provided by the advisor.

Final Report Presentation

The final report would generally be a longer report than the preliminary report, including all areas of the preliminary report and also providing comparisons with recommended scenarios, information about various aspects of financial planning, and more detailed reports and analysis. This report can be modified extensively, depending on the preference of the advisor. As above, Holland Advisory Services is available to meet with the client, if this is what the advisor wishes.
